1st-3rd Grade Aquarium Installation

Downstairs from my classroom in the gym is a trophy case that has no trophies. My principal said I could use it, and I never really had anything in it. Earlier this month it came to me that I could make this case into an aquarium and get the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders to make fish for it. I let the children draw fish, octopus, crabs, turtles, and shells to put in the aquarium. I then got my Art club to put everything in it. Here is the result.

I love this octopus, very colorful!

I wanted the kids to cut around the fish, instead of possibly tearing the tentacles and such off of the drawing.

I even crumpled up green paper for seaweed, and yellow and orange paper for coral.

This is a photo of the whole thing. Sorry for the glare on the glass from the lights.

Overall, I had around 300 fish in the aquarium. I have gotten some great responses from other teachers that have seen the installation.
